  • What is CBT?

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a highly effective form of talking therapy that helps you understand your specific problematic thinking and behavioural patterns that largely determine how you feel.

CBT is an active form of therapy, so more than just talking about your problems you will be guided to challenge and change destructive patterns of thought and behaviour so that you are better able to live a healthier life.

  • HOW SESSIONS WORK

    The Process

    1

    Contact

It is important for you to find the right therapist. Email or call me to arrange a free telephone consultation to see if we are a good fit.

    2

    Getting Started

The first session or two will involve me doing a thorough assessment of the problem(s) you'd like to work on, and I will outline how I intend to help you. If we decide to continue together we can commit to a set number of sessions. If either of us decide we're not a good fit, I can help direct you to other therapists who might better suit your needs.

    3

    Number of Sessions

Therapy length is dependent on your particular preference and/or the problems you are coming to therapy for. Some people require only a small number of sessions whilst others will benefit from more. The typical number of sessions people attend is between 6-20, however I will review this with you at regular points so that you are not in therapy any longer than you need to be.

    4

    Length of Sessions

Each session lasts for 50 minutes and we will usually aim to meet once per week. If you would like to accelerate your progress we can meet more than once per week or we can meet for longer sessions.

    5

    Completing Therapy

One of the key components of the CBT approach is to help you to become skilled at tackling your problems by yourself. When you have met your therapy goals I will show you how to maintain your progress once therapy finishes.

I am approved and covered by the following private insurance companies: Aetna, AXA, Aviva, Bupa, Cigna, Nuffield & Vitality.

If you are insured by any of these companies your treatment costs may be covered partially or completely by your policy. Please let me know which insurer you are with when you make contact with me and I can help guide you through the process.

  • Overall I have felt the treatment to be very helpful. I feel as though I have been given useful tools to deal with situations that would previously have seemed insurmountable and this in turn has had a significant impact on my general outlook on life. There are areas that I recognise I still need to work on (primarily social anxiety), but I'm confident that I am in a much better position to do so than I was at the start of the treatment. Thanks, Daniel, for your help.

    Testimonial
